Starting a new job: joining with a company code

For new hires: how to create your account with the code your employer gave you, what each message on the way means, and where your training shows up.

If your employer uses TruStar Connect, they may give you a company code at orientation, on a printed sheet with a QR code, or in an email. It looks like ABCD-EFGH. You use it once, to create your own login.

  1. 1
    Open the join page

Scan the QR code with your phone camera, or open TruStar Connect, choose Join with a company code on the sign-in screen, and type the code. Upper or lower case and the dash do not matter.

  2. 2
    Choose your position

Pick the job you were hired for from the list. It decides which training you will be asked to show, so pick the one that matches your job.

  3. 3
    Enter your details

Your name, your email, a phone number your supervisor can reach you on, and a password of at least eight characters.

  4. 4
    Confirm your email

Open the email TruStar Connect sends you and tap the link, then press the confirm button. Check your junk folder if it has not arrived.

  5. 5
Sign in and upload your tickets

Your required training is listed under Training and on your tasks. Take a photo of each certificate you hold and upload it.

If the code is refused

  • Code not found: check it against the sheet. Codes never use the letters I, L or O or the numbers 0 or 1, so if you think you see one of those, look again.
  • Turned off, expired, or used as many times as it allows: the company has closed the code. Ask the person who gave it to you for a new one.
  • No room for new people: the company has used every seat on its plan. Contact the person who gave you the code so they can make room.
  • The project has closed, or there are no positions to choose: ask for a new code.
  • Too many tries: wait ten minutes and try again.

Waiting for approval

Some companies approve each new person before they can sign in. If yours does, the join page says so, and after you confirm your email you will see a Waiting for approval screen when you sign in. The company has been told you are waiting. Once they approve you, sign in again and your training will be there. If it is taking a while, contact the person who gave you the code.

Tip. You join as a worker. If you need more access, your supervisor or an administrator can change it after you join.
