Lockout/Tagout and Hazardous Energy Awareness

Know the forms hazardous energy takes, why a stopped machine isn't a safe one, the steps of a lockout, how locks, tags and keys protect each worker, and why zero energy is verified first, in about 55 minutes.

  • 55 min
  • Online, on a phone or a computer
  • Professionally narrated
  • Certificate, valid 36 months
Lockout/Tagout and Hazardous Energy Awareness covers what every worker who cleans, adjusts, repairs or works near machines and equipment should know: the forms hazardous energy takes, from electrical, mechanical and gravity to hydraulic, pneumatic, thermal and chemical, and the energy that stays behind after a machine stops. It explains why a stop button, an emergency stop or an interlock is not isolation, what energy-isolating devices are, the steps of a lockout in order, how personal locks, tags, group lock boxes and shift changes keep every worker protected, why zero energy is always verified before work starts, and how equipment is safely put back into service, with the differences between Canadian jurisdictions shown where they matter. You match each form of energy to where you would meet it, sort what isolates from what only stops a machine, find answers in a real-looking lockout procedure, spot the problems at a conveyor lockout, make the calls when a lock is left on a pump at an oil and gas facility, check your understanding after each module, and finish with a 20-question exam. Pass with 80% and your certificate is issued right away, valid for 36 months. Every screen is narrated, with captions and a full transcript. This course provides general awareness of hazardous energy and lockout. It does not replace your employer's hazardous energy control program, the machine-specific procedures and hands-on training you need before you lock out equipment, or training as a qualified electrical worker.
